The premiere of the film The Future belongs to the Young will take place on 21st September 2017 at the Savoy Cinema in Dublin.
Even in one of the fastest growing economies in the world, around Ethiopia today many children still face the daily challenge of survival. The future belongs to the young, features international best-selling author, peace ambassador and charity founder Lorna Byrne as she sets out on an adventure of a lifetime across Ethiopia with APA – A Partnership with Africa, to see for herself the diverse challenges facing children there.
Lorna meets children who have lost parents as a result of the AIDS epidemic, street children needing to be reunified with their families, vulnerable young girls working as housemaids or bar workers with no access to education, children residing in prison and indigenous children facing unimaginable discrimination. With intimate access to people’s homes and lives, Lorna learns about the ground breaking initiatives that are helping to change the lives of vulnerable, severely disadvantaged and marginalised children and young people across the country as well as documenting those still desperate for help.
The film charts Lorna’s mission to understand how we all can help to change the lives of children for the better. ‘The future belongs to the young’ is a film about hope, the indomitable spirit of the Ethiopian people and making the impossible, possible.
